This is a very short blog but hopefully, within the few words, it may help prevent hair pulling grief…read on.
This is for those of you that use Kaspersky Total Security.
Total Security is a very good product, I personally like Kasperky products, I don’t like their sales tactics but that’s another story, one which I have already commented about…see Kaspersky scam.
If, at the end of your yearly subscription, you decide not to bother renewing Kaspersky Total Security and instead feel that Kaspersky Internet Security or even Antivirus will be adequate for your needs, be aware that if you input a new renewal code that is different to the product installed the product will remove features that are not associated with the new license. Normally this would be a problem but if you use a feature in Total Security called Data Encryption or Security Vault,be aware that when this feature is removed you will not be able to unlock the vault and view your files.
TIP: If you have come across this problem there is a simple soloution
- Download and install CCleaner
- Remove/uninstall the version of Kaspersky or any other antivirus that you have installed on your system (never have 2 antivirus program installed and running at the same time)
- Restart the system
- Run CCleaner: run the Cleaner first then then registry cleaner
- Download and install a trial version of Kaspersky Total Security
You now have 30 days in which to recover your encrypted dated, access it using the same method and password as before.
Hope this helps…Dave.
